Lincoln Center: For New York And The World

New York City is the cultural focus of the nation, and Lincoln Center is at the middle of it. Famous around the world for its commitment to exhibiting and preserving the arts, Lincoln Center is actually several venues contained within a single plaza. A smart plan would be to discover everything it has to offer.

There are a dozen different groups in residence at the Plaza. The Film Institute, NYC Ballet company, and the Metropolitan Opera are just a few. So pick up some Met opera tickets or attend a concert put on by the Philharmonic. For kids who display talent and a fascination for the arts, the Julliard is the ideal place to join. At Lincoln Center, there are always surprises in store for viewers and benefactors.

With approximately five million attendees and more than 400 performances every year, each person can locate that one special show. Kabuki Theatre encourages focusing closely on each performance. African drumming produces hypnotic beats. If live entertainment did not appeal to you or your close friends before, simply forget about the stereotype that only Shakespeare and ballet are shown. Keep in mind that even these genres have evolved considerably throughout the years.

The Lincoln Center always welcomes any donation. Stage lights, elaborate costumes and props are expensive, on top of the costs of operating a venue, plus labor costs. Clearly money from ticket sales covers only a fraction of of the operating expenses. Donate to become a member, or make a gift of a charitable donation.

One can work up quite the appetite visiting galleries, shops, and dancing to the music. There are a variety of places to eat, whether you want a snack, a meal or a drink. Perhaps you want some coffee from the Espresso Bar. If you grab a bite or a drink during the intermission, just be sure to hurry back before the curtain rises again!

If for some reason you cannot travel to New York City to see a Metropolitan Opera performance in person, many of them are displayed at your community cinema. Look to see if you are able to see a performance by going to the Met live in HD.
