The Best Beaches That Are Situated Near New York City
Long Island, NY has the best of both worlds with beautiful beaches and waterfront properties and also a close proximity to Manhattan and all of the things that New York City has to offer. Many people have heard about the affluent Long Island, enclave of the Hamptons but there are also a few other fantastic beaches located on the biggest island in the US says a violin teacher Long Island and a voice teacher Long Island. This article explore some of the best beaches to go to on Long Island including the infamous Hamptons. The beaches are Jones Beach State Park, Robert Moses State Park, Fire Island and Montauk Point.
Being the best known location is The Hamptons beach and community. This is the beach location for many wealthy celebrities and other affluent people that live in nearby New York City. During the summer, The Hamptons is busy with celebrity filled events and parties making it the spot to be and be seen. Coopers Beach in Southampton and Main Beach in East Hampton are regularly listed on Dr. Beach’s world top 10 list every year. Celebrity residents are Billy Joel, Christie Brinkley and Martha Stewart to name a few. It is also a wonderful spot for artists and has many high end galleries in the area. Besides the beautiful beaches, The Hamptons have good restaurants, shopping, art and nightlife for people visiting.
There are 2 good beaches that are part of the State park group on Long Island. They are Jones Beach State Park and Robert Moses State Park. Jones Beach was created by master planner, Robert Moses in 1929 and is the biggest public beach on Long Island. It is also the closest one to Manhattan making it an ideal destination for those who want to get out of the city for the day. It also has a 15,000 seat outdoor theatre where summer concerts play too. Robert Moses State park is smaller than Jones and less crowded. It does not have the theatre or the boardwalk that Jones has and also three miles less of beach. The well known Fire Island lighthouse is at this park also.
Another great beach on Long Island is known as Fire Island and is a 32 mile long island with many different beach communities and the gorgeous Fire island national seashore. There are beach houses, rental cottages and hotels in addition to shopping, restaurants and live music to make it a favorite vacation destination. This is regularly voted as a favorite of all of the beaches in Long Island for the natural beauty, charm and overall feel.
The final beach in Long island is Montauk Point and is actually considered part of The Hamptons but has a totally different feel. It is a extremely quiet area with rocky beaches that make it a great fishing area and one of the top ones on the East Coast. The Montauk Point Lighthouse is over 200 years old and was constructed in 1797 by George Washington and is a great thing to visit.
