If you don’t quite know what I’m talking about go to Youtube and search the most viewed videos. You need to find a few examples of videos with the link within the outline box.
To the right of the video you should see a link. This is an illustration of what I’m talking about.
To do that you simply take the following steps.
Search YouTube with keywords that relate in some form to your song or your band. As an example, if you had done a cover of smells like teen Spirit you might search words like Nirvana, smells similar to teen Spirit, Grunge, and so on.
Next, sort the results by “view count”. You’re looking for videos with many thousands, or even millions of perspectives. Disregard any videos that are posted by the artist themselves or any videos that currently have a link in the outline box.
Then all you have got to do is send the users of relevant videos a message explaining that you would like to pay them on a once per month bases to put your link in there outline box.
You will possibly only find that 1 in each ten or twenty folks are interested in your offer, but if even one link on a very viewed video can mean thousands of new visitors, and potential new fans each month.
This is just the tip of the iceberg.
*Note* I would recommend that you use this technique with second tier record firms at first and then try your hand with he larger boys once you have some singles and a good sales past history under your belt. Perhaps even try and get a music publishing contract first.
Most large labels wish to see that you have had some success on your own before taking the danger and offering you a huge advance.
But to be completely honest with you for a second, the concept of getting a record deal for me is a real turn off nowadays. I have discovered a straightforward system to create a list of fans and sell my music that’s fully new to the music biz.
