Summer Vacation Should Be Educational And Fun

Kids get summer vacation between grades to give them plenty of time to be outdoors, enjoy the warm weather, take trips with their family, and enjoy free days with schedules and homework. Having a break is healthy and it helps them learn better. Even if entire days are spent outside, they are still learning. However, it is possible to fit in structured learning without spoiling the fun of the season. There are numerous things kids may not be exposed to in school but summer may be a great time. For instance, music education may not happen early enough, or at all. Some schools no longer have music programs, but that does not mean parents cannot take charge and make sure their children get exposure to music. Summer is a great time to begin teaching kids an instrument. Hire a violin teacher Long Island or a voice teacher Long Island, for singing lessons.

A lot of people imagine music lessons as torture, but music lessons taught right are a lot of fun. Find an instructor that will expose kids to music and make it a lot of fun. Little girls and little boys love to perform summer concerts for their friends and family at the end of the season after they have mastered a few music skills.

Science is another great lesson to incorporate into summer learning. The fact that kids spend a lot of time outdoors gives them plenty of opportunity to experience science in action. Hands on lessons are more fun and easier to learn. Science does not feel like school when you are playing in the mud or jumping in the creek, as opposed to sitting at a desk in school, with only a text book to touch. Ask your child lots of questions at day‘s end, or get out there in the mud with them. This is a great way to feel young, have fun, and share science lessons with your child.

If you have a child bookworm you probably will have no reason to encourage them to pick up a book and enjoy over the summer months. However, if reading is not their favorite thing in the world, you can still give them a chance to crack a book open over the summer without it feeling like a chore. If you can find books your child will enjoy, they will be happy to read over the summer.

Focus less on content and be happy they are looking at a book because, they are bending their minds and getting reading practice. Even comic books will get them some quiet time each day and give them a chance to get some reading practice before heading back to school in September.
