Fashion Was The Paramount Subject Matter At The Mother And Child Premiere
When the stars hit the red carpet for the Mother and Child Premiere in Hollywood on April 19, they may as well have been hitting the runway. For better or worse, stars like Amanda Seyfried and Kerry Washington made a definite splash with their wardrobe choices. From the beautiful dresses to the amazing shoes, the fashion was as much of a draw as the film at this premiere.
Kerry Washington stars in the film and dressed the part in her printed dress from designer J. Mendel. Sergio Rossi heels and golden clutch completed the look and were topped off by accessories that included a pink ring from Amrapali that stole the show. This ring was so large that observers could not help but comment on its beauty.
Amanda Seyfried arrived at the premiere wearing a dress from the Bodyamr Fall 2010 line. The purple and grey silk number made quite a statement. Perhaps this was because Seyfried appears to have worn the dress backward. The Bodyamr fashion show illustrated that the zipper should be displayed on the back, not front, of the dress. Seyfried did not star in the movie so perhaps dressing to attend the premiere was an afterthought.
New York was the site of the April 26 premiere of the film and the fashion show continued. Classic looks, like the Stella McCartney black cropped pants and lace-accented black top worn by Naomi Watts, ruled the night. Watts kept the color scheme going by pairing the outfit with a black clutch and heels. The look was understated, but at the same time elegant.
Kerry Washington looked as beautiful at the film’s New York premiere as she did in Hollywood, wearing a mini-dress from Zac Posen’s Fall 2010 collection. The lilac and black dress was slightly altered from when it appeared on Posen’s runway, now sleeveless compared to the sheer black sleeves it originally had. Washington polished her look off with a simple black clutch and black peep-toe heels.
The film’s two older stars looked distinguished and well put together as they made their way down the red carpet with their spouses. Annette Bening looked lovely in a black pantsuit at the L.A. premiere as she entered holding hands with her husband, actor Warren Beatty. Her co-star, Samuel L. Jackson was accompanied by his beautiful wife, Latanya Richardson.
Mother And Child is a film about family, following the lives of three very different women. One is a 50-something health care worker who never got over giving her daughter up for adoption when she became pregnant at age 14. The film also follows the life of her daughter, now an adult and a successful lawyer, and an unrelated woman who decides to adopt after being unable to conceive with her husband.
This touching film about family inspired a huge turnout at the Mother and Child Premiere in Los Angeles and New York. The premieres were characterized by high fashion and an array of A-list actors. Mother and Child comes to theatres on May 7 and is sure to generate large revenues, based on the star power it contains.
