Using an email list to triple your profits

When it comes to making money on the internet, I usually think of list building. List building is the practice of acquiring the email addresses of prospective customers for later use. The SEO Earning Revenue
Many different studies have shown that a large percentage of customers will eventually purchase something after repeated contact from the seller. A customer comes to your website and chooses not to buy your product or service, now what? Well, you can either chalk it up as a loss, or, you can attempt to get obtain their email address and contact them in the future. You can then send that potential customer a series of very helpful articles or reports, and eventually you’ll have them so teased with potent information that they’ll have no choice but to buy your product!

This is something that almost every single niche can benefit. What could be better than a list of thousands of potential customers that can’t wait for you to sell them something next? I could retire right now, and still make at least $12,000 a month from promoting products to my subscriber list alone!

So how do you go about getting these emails? Well, it’s easy, you just ask for them! The most prevalent method of legally obtaining emails is by using the opt-in method. Basically, you give them the option of entering their email address directly to you.

Ideally, you’ll want to offer the customer something useful, and something free. Say they don’t want to purchase your main product, but why not give them a chapter to them on the house, or possibly a delicious package of PLR products. Either way, you entice the user to submit their email, as well as giving them something useful!

This is typically what an Opt – In looks like. Obviously they should be a little more dressed up, but this is the basic idea.

I recommend offering something to entice your visitors to join this list. I like to offer either a chapter of my product (or otherwise equal sample), a few PLR products, or just a chance to join my “exclusive” newsletter. Other worthwhile techniques are offering a chance at discounts in the future, or something exclusive only obtainable by joining your mailing list. Many people will make it seem as though the list has a limit, let’s say the first 200 people (even if it’s not true). This doesn’t hurt anyone, and creates a sense of urgency.

Remember; always offer an OPT-OUT option in every email sent!

Now that you have a list growing (I drool at the thought of a bigger list, some call it list envy!), you need to realize a few things about the list. They joined optionally! Nothing is making them stay there, so don’t go crazy and simply spam your list with horrible products. Rather, treat them like real, live customers, and don’t do anything or promote anything to them that you wouldn’t your own mother.

Here is a typical 3 message conversation set that I’ll generally send to my list.

Email 1: Hey guys! Thanks for signing up for my email list! Earlier this week, I was talking to my friend Steve about ways to boost your Adsense profits by almost 100%! Here is an article about one of the ways he’s doing it right now.

Email 2: Hey everyone, I hope you enjoyed that last article. I’ve been analyzing some of the ways I used to make money when I first started, and I completely forgot about how I used eBay to bring home about $500 a week, check out my article here.

Email 3: Hey guys, you remember my friend Steve who was onto something big with Adsense? Well, he just gave me a 3 page report on how he uses images to boost his profits immensely, and I just couldn’t help but give it you guys!

Email 4: Hey guys, Steve has been going nuts these last few days, and created an entire book detailing step by step his amazing new Adsense system. I’ve used it myself, and let me say, WOW, just WOW. I strongly recommend you guys check it out if you have any serious interest in Adsense, you can find his product here.

In just 4 emails, you’ve built some trust, and on that 4th email, you probably netted a fair percentage of sales. This is just one of the many different ways I promote products to my list.

Remember, whenever someone on your list sends you an email, make sure you really pay attention to what is being said. For every 50 people that feel that way, only a few are going to actually voice their opinions. If one person unsubscribed
because of a poor product, you can bet many more are probably about to. Take these emails to heart, or you’ll end up taking it to the wallet.

Depending on your product, I recommend setting up a “squeeze page”. A squeeze page is a page whose entire purpose is collecting emails, nothing else. This will generally be a page where the user has only the option of entering an email to continue to the index, or exit. I generally offer a small link on the bottom of the squeeze page that allows the user to continue on anyway. You’ll find that with a generous offer most squeeze pages are effective at getting upwards of 50% of all traffic, while still remaining mostly targeted.

Dirty little secret: Don’t you hate pop ups? Everyone hates pop ups right? WRONG. If people didn’t actively click on pop ups, they would eventually die out. The truth is, they are stronger than ever. Don’t be afraid to use a pop up opt in on your page. Set a delay of less than 3 seconds, as no one wants to be in the middle of something and then be hit with a pop up. Get the pop up in, and out. What I think is a more effective strategy, is to use an exit grabber. An exit grabber is a pop up that will display as the user attempts to close the window.
